Sleeping bags are like a duvet for a baby, they are the ultimate sleep garment. Two layers of thick 220gsm weight merino is what makes these so warm and at 19.5 microns, the extra fine fibre is soft and non abrasive against even the most delicate skin. A double ended YKK zip makes it easy to cool baby down or change a nappy without removing the garment, and reinforced dome snaps keep the sleeping bag secure. A travel slot allows baby to be safely buckled in without needing to undress, perfect for transporting a sleepy baby. Being 100% merino, these dry quickly on a heated towel rail in between sleeps.
Made from two layers of warm premium 100% merino (No TOGG rating as this is a natural fabric). Warm enough to use when your babies bedroom is 14 degrees Celsius.
Our new season sleeping bags feature a handy little travel slot. Travel slots allow you to buckle in baby safely without having to undress. This is super handy for transporting your sleepy little one!
With properties of temperature regulation, moisture-wicking, dust mite resistance and hypoallergenic fibres, it is the perfect choice for a great nights sleep. International studies show merino sleepwear and bedding help achieve longer, less interrupted sleep; and as parents, we all know how important that is, however, read our customer reviews on this product for peace of mind.
Pilling is minimal with merino but is a normal process, this can be from the item your baby has been rubbing against, like the carpet or bed linen (especially flannelette sheets), they are easily removed. Also be careful not to wash your delicates with heavy cottons or static-giving items such as fleece polyester.
This sleeping bag has a double-ended zip on the side. There are two shoulder domes on each shoulder and domes under the arms for use with smaller babies.
Great size for children with hip dysplasia who need more room.

Fire Safety

Washing and Care
Caring for merino is easy, but important to get right!
Washing
Machine or hand wash at 40°C max (low spin speed for blankets)
Use a wool-approved liquid detergent
Close any zips before washing
Turn the garment inside out to reduce pilling
Place in a delicates wash bag if you have one
Avoid using laundry powder, soaking, bleaching, wringing, dry cleaning, or stain removers, as these practices can accelerate the biodegradation of Merino, causing holes.
Drying
We recommend air-drying merino.
Avoid using a tumble dryer, as it can reduce the fabric's soft feel and may cause shrinkage.
Additionally, keep it out of direct sunlight to prevent any fading or discolouration.
Storing
Storing merino correctly is important to keep it safe from moths, mould, dust, and general wear and tear.
Vacuum closets/drawers regularly and store with Cedar Moth Balls.
Stain removal
Never soak or bleach merino or use stain removal sprays- even if you develop a stain.
To remove stains on merino, carefully dab the area with a cloth covered in a wool-approved detergent. Follow up by washing your merino as usual and the stain should come out.
Odour removal
Merino wool's moisture-wicking properties makes it naturally odour-resistant.
Odours often vanish on their own, but if needed, air out by hanging, lay flat on a towel to rest, or hang in a steamy bathroom to refresh.
The less your merino item is washed the longer it will last.
What to wear with your Babu Sleeping Bag:
The ideal room temperature for a baby is between 16-20ºC or 60-68ºF. This Babu™ sleeping bag is perfect wearing for autumn, winter and spring temperatures. It does not carry a togg rating, as it is a natural, breathable fibre, but the below chart will help you decide how to dress your child for the room temperature.
Check your child’s temperature by feeling the back of their neck. If they feel hot, remove a layer. If they’re cold, add a snug fitting hat (where the rim does not pull down over their airways), mittens or a blanket (merino is ideal). Place the blanket width-ways across the child and tuck in snugly. This will stop the blanket moving and covering their face.
22-24C (71.6-75F) Short sleeve bodysuit
20-22C (68-71.6F) Long sleeve bodysuit
18-20C (64.4-68F) Long sleeve bodysuit & leggings
16-18C (60.8-64.4F) Long sleeve bodysuit & pyjamas
14-16C (57.2-60.8F) As above, with long sleeve tee
Should my baby use a sleeping bag?
Baby sleeping bags are a wonderful alternative to blankets. Baby sleeping bags fasten closed, ensuring your baby is kept covered all night long. You can use a merino sleeping bag almost all year round- just adjust the number of layers you put your baby to bed in. For summer months or hot environments, a cotton sleeping bag is a wonderful option.
